The proposed mixed-use development will bring a variety of amenities and features to a prominent corner of Halifax creating an iconic destination for the peninsula. The current YMCA site on South Park will be redeveloped to offer commercial, retail and office space. Approximately 165,000 sqft of flexible residential space along South Park Street can accommodate a mix of units such as condos, street-level townhouses, shops or a boutique hotel. The current CBC site at the corner of South Park and Sackville Streets will house the new YMCA facility along with a residential building.
The development will offer the city an increased pedestrian experience with enhanced public spaces and links between areas. The Annandale Extension pedestrian pathway will provide access into both portions of the development and connect existing pockets of activity within the city. A bright and open interior atrium will connect activity within the YMCA and create public space for gathering year round. The central courtyard lined with busy shops and a residential lobby will offer activity-filled outdoor amenity space.
The YMCA will be working with Michael Napier Architects for the development of this project.
