This development has been proposed by Genivar for the lands of 5885 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, to allow for a 20-storey residential building addition to the rear of the existing building and a single-storey commercial addition along Spring Garden Road. The proposed development also includes a single-storey commercial addition to the front of the building and also includes improvements to the amenity areas and landscaping around the site. The rear of the property is currently developed as surface parking. Currently waiting for wind impact assessment.
Due to public feedback and comments from the Districts 7 and 8 Planning Advisory Committee, the applicant has revised their proposal and are now requesting an 18-storey residential addition with 104 additional units. The reduction in height is to provide a height that is consistent with neighbouring properties. The applicant is further revising the proposal by removing the proposed single storey commercial addition in the front of the building.
