Sustainable Transportation Task Force Launched

The Planning and Design Centre launched the Sustainable Transportation Task Force in July 2010. The Task Force is an independent body formed to engage the public and other stakeholders in the development of a long-term Sustainable Transportation Strategy and identify immediate and long-term actions required to implement the Strategy. The formation of the Task Force responds to a growing interest in enabling a shift toward a more sustainable transportation system for the Halifax region.

The Task Force has met regularly since July and has recently formed a working group to develop a demonstration project idea: a “Ciclovia” type event adapted for Halifax. For more information about the Bogotá, Columbia Ciclovia event, check out: www.streetfilms.org/ciclovia
The Planning and Design Centre is currently inviting individuals to join the Task Force - new participants are always welcome!
Next Task Force Meeting
The Task Force is currently meeting the third Wednesday of every month, from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the Cities & Environment Unit office:
5257 Morris Street.

The Working Group is currently meeting the first Wednesday of every month, from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the Cities & Environment Unit office:
