are proud to host an international public art competition. The piece of public art will be located in front of a new live/work development called The Trillium, currently under construction in the vibrant business district of downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The goal of the competition is to contribute an original, permanent piece of public art to the public realm.

A winner has been selected by an independent jury, and will be announced at the opening reception for the Trillium Public Art Exhibition. The exhibition will showcase all of the high quality, creative and imaginative ideas from Stage One and Stage Two of the competition.
We invite you to join us for this exciting announcement:
When: Friday May 29, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Where: Exhibition Room Faculty of Architecture & Planning (5410 Spring Garden Road)
Representatives from W.M. Fares Group, the Planning & Design Centre and the Jury will provide comments and announce the winner of the competition. The public exhibit will run through June 7th, open daily between 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.
We hope you will be able to join us, along with other supporters of the Planning & Design Centre at this important moment in the life of our city. The Planning & Design Centre aims to raise our collective expectations for high quality design in our communities, and this competition and investment in public art is a positive step in achieving this vision.

After many discussions with artists, galleries, arts organizations, and
colleges, the Planning & Design Centre has decided to extend the registration
deadline by a few weeks to ensure more people have the opportunity to register
or to form teams. This change does not affect the other deadlines in the
competition's schedule. Please spread the word of the extended registration
deadline.
