Seek Newsletter–Volume 007

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

Seek is the newsletter for the Planning & Design Centre. This issue is a continuation of our previous Issue of Seek’s discussion on community engagement in the planning process. We examine three current examples where the public has proactively been engaged in projects throughout North America. Our goal is to highlight how public participation in planning needs to be on-going and meaningful. Citizens must be given the tools and information they need to contribute to the growth and development of their street, neighbourhood and city.

Planning and design must be more visible. If the community is to contribute meaningfully to how their city develops, they must be given the tools and ability to make that contribution. The Planning & Design Centre represents a venue for the realization that planning and design can be a part of our everyday lives.
